Stage: Beginner Stage

Stage: Beginner

Stage Characteristics: Her footwork is one of the most obvious clues that she is a beginner- especially the little hop she finishes with. Weak approach, no power in swing.

What to change: She needs to work on her approach, getting higher off the ground and putting more power into her swing. Overall, I think she lacks practice.

Cue: Focus on footwork, and put more power into swing.

Spiking

Stage: Beginner

Stage characteristics: She doen't time her approach well, she doesn't get a full swing, and she didn't jump very high.

What to change: I would work on timing, I would aslo do stationary spiking drills first.

Cue: keep the ball infront of you

Volleyball Daniel Smith 3409

Volleyball
Daniel Smith
3409 Spike
Stage: Beginner
Stage characteristics: Walk to the ball, bunny hopped, then shyly swatted.
What to change: Player needs to work on her approach, really bend her knees and push off to gain height, pull her arm back and swing forcefully to drive the ball.
Cue: Approach and swing.

Stage:

Stage: Beginner

Characteristics:
She tries to show the method for approaching the net, jumping, and spiking the ball over the head.

What to change:
She needs to get a good push-off, and use the non-hitting arm to pull the hitting arm (giving it more power).

Cue:
Jump higher and swing the arm all the way over your head.

Spike

Stage: Beginner

Stage Characteristics: Player does not get off the ground high enough to even spike the ball and secondly she really needs to work on fundamentals on getting up to the net and hitting the ball with force.

What to Change: Player needs to swing arms to get height in her jump and hit the ball with some power.

Cue: Get up in the air and hit the ball with power.

Improvement

1. Spiking
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristics:
1. No approach to ball
2. Hops to hit
3. Lacks usage of arm to spike ball
What to Change: One major improvement is that she needs to swing her arm back and then forward to hit the ball. This will give her power. She also needs to work on her approach to the ball (either having a 2 step or 3 step approach). She also needs to add more power and jump in the air before contacting the ball.
Cue: Swing arm
Power jump
2 or 3 step approach to spike

spiker

Stage:beginner

Stage Characteristics:The spikers approach to spike the ball is weak. she is lacking confidence and fundamentals. She doesnt use her arms to gain momentum for her jump and doesnt get high enough off the ground to spike it.

What to Change:She needs to swing her arms for power to jump in the air to spike it. Also she needs to work on her approach using the 2 step approach.

Cue:Work on your approach to spike the ball.

Spiking

Stage: Beginner

Stage Characteristic: Spiker has no approach to the ball. Does not demonstrate any sort of knowledge of spike approach. The player sort of hops to the net to hit the ball instead of using the 2-step footwork and arm swing.

What to Change: Spiker needs to start with arms ready and feet together. When beginning approach, take off on left foot toward the set. Follow with right foot and land with feet together to jump to the ball for spike. The footwork needs to be one fluid, explosive motion. The arm work needs to go with footwork and the spiker wants to make solid contact with the fall and follow thru with swing.

Cue: remember footwork, explode

PES 294, Skill Analysis

Stage: Beginner

Stage Characteristics: She has a weak approach. She doesn't takeoff with her lead foot. She does not jump high enough. She does not swing her arms to gain momentum. She does not have a powerful wrist snap or fast arm swing.

What to Change: She needs to sharpen up her approach, takeoff, and arm movements.

Cue: "Approach, Swing Arms, Takeoff, Powerful Wrist Snap"

Volleyball Spike PES 294

Stage: Beginner.

Stage Characteristics: Player does not look coordinated in her approach. There are no powerful steps leading up to the spike. The player also does not get vertical in her takeoff as much as one would want, the body is more at an angle than completely vertical.

What to change: Three or four powerful steps on the apporach to the net would help in coordinating the power of the rest of the movements. Also, getting completely vertical and using both arms in the take off to achieve more power would help.

Cue: "Use poweful steps on approach"
