Stage: Identify the stage of the skill that is exhibited (e.g. beginner, intermediate, expert).
Stage Characteristics: Describe 2-3 features of the movement on the video that is characteristic of the stage identified.
What to Change: Identify and describe the most important aspect of the skill that will need to be changed for the subject to improve.
Cue: Write the single most important verbal instructional cue to help the performer improve.
Comments on individual video clips are encouraged, especially in the form of analysis of the subjects' technique.

This project has the following primary purposes: (a) to provide video of subjects performing sport skills at varying levels of expertise as a medium for teachers, coaches, and students to practice movement analysis, (b) to provide video demonstration models of sport skills and games for learners, teachers, and coaches, and (c) present a platform for the professional community to contribute video and dialog to more thoroughly accomplish the aforementioned purposes. Improvement
4. Shot Put Throw
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics:
1. Back to throwing field with knees bent
2. Glide backwards with shot put at neck with elbow out
3. Turn with hips and throws
What to Change: One major improvement would be for the girl to work on her balance during her glide backwards. She could bend her knees a little bit more to do so. Another improvement would be for the girl to use more of her hips when she turns to throw the shot put, not just her shoulders and arms. The last improvement would be for her to aim prior to releasing the shot put. She should find a target in the sand and try to push the shot put farther than it. Thus, she should look up and out at her target, not at the shot put release in general.
Cue: Bend knees
Stay balanced during glide backwards
Use the hips to get power
Skill Analysis
I would say judging by this video that this person definitely has some experience throwing the shot put. I would say they are not an expert but probably at a higher level of intermediate. I think that this person is at this stage because they have a decent glide in their technique. You can also tell by the speed of the movement that this person has attempted this technique before. If I were coaching or teaching this person how to throw the shot I would focus on changing a couple things. I would tell them to be more explosive with the right foot and hip. This way they could get more power in their throw. I would also them them not to watch the shot. To continue improving in this event the person should have a reverse and follow through on their throw. My coaching cue for this would be to throw your eyes to the back of the ring to help accomplish two things. It would save the throw from a scatch and help the person work on their reverse.
