Elizabeth Wood PES 294
Stage: Beginner/Intermediate
Stage Characteristics: Begins his run with the cross over, which should be the last 5 or 6 steps. Also he keeps his should back during his run. Foot work on landing looked better.
What to Change: Give more running time, before the cross over, bring the javelin back and rotate the shoulders to create torque. Also, give more of a push with the right leg just before the release.
Cue: Timing; when to begin the crossover
Improvement
5. Javelin Throw 2
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics:
1. Holding javelin
2. Running with javelin
3. Release of javelin before the line
What to Change: There are a couple things that he could improve on. The first thing he could improve on is how he holds the javelin. He should straighten his arm more. Another improvement would be for him to practice his footwork going into the throw. He should practice planting his power foot and dragging the other foot forward when releasing. This will keep him balanced and give him more power.
Cue: Arm straight with javelin
Plant power foot before release
Stay balanced
Javelin Throw 2
Stage: Intermediate
Characteristic: Angle of release, grasp of javelin
Change: Change grip, speed- increasing velocity will increase power of throw
Cue: Speed and grip
