9. Bump Pass
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics:
1. Gets under the ball
2. Extends arms out
3. Holds hands together
What to Change: One major improvement is that the guy needs to use his legs more for a push off. Thus, he needs to bend both knees to get under the ball better. When hitting, he should gradually go up vertically with the ball. Feet should be spread out shoulder width apart too. He also needs to make sure that he aims his passes.
Cue: Aim passes
Bend both knees
Feet are shoulder width
Stage:
Stage: Beginner/Intermediate
Characteristics:
Here, the student shows how to get under the volleyball, keep his eyes on the ball, and use the knees in conjuction with the arms to provide a good bump.
What to change:
There needs to be more movement (push-off) with the knees and legs, and less rotation of the arms. This will make controlling the ball much easier.
Cue:
Use the legs to absorb the impact and maintain control.
