PES 294, Skill Analysis
Stage: Beginner/Intermediate
Stage Characteristics: Improvements from last layup! Player dribbled with appropriate hand and had eyes on the basket. He still jumped with the right foot instead of the left. He also jumped a bit too soon. His arm extension was good and he released the ball at the peak of his reach. He also only used his right hand to make the shot.
What to Change: Player needs to push off with foot that is opposite of shooting hand. He also needs to practice the appropriate time to jump so he does not end up shooting from underneath the basket.
Cue: "Push off Left"
Lay- Up
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristics: Its good that he uses his right hand and tries to shoot with his right hand. He needs to off his left foot.
What to change: Work on getting him comfortable using his left hand. Also, work on going up on the right side for a lay-up bending his right knee and elevating up.
Cue: Act like there is a string connecting your right elbow and your right knee when you go for a lay-up.

3718 lay up
Stage: beginner
Stage characteristics: Player dribbles to the basket, jumps, pushes with his right hand.
What to change: Player needs to lift his right leg as he’s shooting and address the back board in his shot. He’s too far under as he’s trying to shoot.
Cue: Push off with the proper foot, use the backboard, shoot a little sooner.
Lay-Up
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristic: Player dribbles to the basket with wrong hand and shoots with two hands instead of one. Also, goes up off of wrong foot.
What to Change: Player needs to dribble and shoot with right hand when on the right side of basket. Also, needs to go up off of one foot, the right foot, when taking off from the block.
Cue: remember "chain" from right hand elbow to right knee
Improvement
8. Lay Up
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristics:
1. Dribbling towards basket on right side with right hand
2. Releasing ball with right hand when at the block
3. Lifting leg into the air
What to Change: Player needs to raise his right leg instead of his left leg when doing a right handed lay in. He needs to pretend that there is an invisible string attached from his right elbow to his right knee.
Cues: Right hand, right knee in air (right lay in)
Left hand, left knee in air (left lay in)
Invisible string attached from shooting hand to same sided knee
