Recommended Skill Analysis Task
Stage: Identify the stage of the skill that is exhibited (e.g. beginner, intermediate, expert).
Stage Characteristics: Describe 2-3 features of the movement on the video that is characteristic of the stage identified.
What to Change: Identify and describe the most important aspect of the skill that will need to be changed for the subject to improve.
Cue: Write the single most important verbal instructional cue to help the performer improve.
Call for Contribution
Comments on individual video clips are encouraged, especially in the form of analysis of the subjects' technique.
Video contributions to this project are also welcomed. Use the contact form to request details on video uploads and participant consent forms.
Purpose
This project has the following primary purposes: (a) to provide video of subjects performing sport skills at varying levels of expertise as a medium for teachers, coaches, and students to practice movement analysis, (b) to provide video demonstration models of sport skills and games for learners, teachers, and coaches, and (c) present a platform for the professional community to contribute video and dialog to more thoroughly accomplish the aforementioned purposes. Stage: Expert
Stage Characteristics: Proper form with arms (elbow L shape, ball balanced on hand, nonshooting hand balancing) Good body alignment with basket. Uses legs correctly. Good wrist action and follow through.
What to change: He has mastered this skill. Just keep shooting like this!
Cue: "Good Form"
Shot
Stage: Advance
Stage Characteristics: He does a good job stepping into his shot, his form and release looks good. However, the motion is very slow.
What to change: Everything was fine but it would be better if got the shot off faster, it looked like slow motion.

Stage Characteristics: Good form, good shooting posture
What to change: Don’t hold the ball above head that long
Cue: Quick release
Shot
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristic: The player shows proper hold on ball and one-handed release in air. Also jumps when shooting to get the ball to the basket.
What to Change: The player needs to treat the shot with a game-mentality. Either have someone passing them the ball or spin the ball to himself to get in the habit of catching the ball on the go. Player also needs to remember the follow through.
Cue: Follow through, hand in cookie jar.
Improvement
5. Shot
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics:
1. Both hands on the ball
2. Brought ball up and released ball from one hand into the air
3. Jumped when releasing ball
What to Change: The guy needs to spin the ball to himself going into the shot so he practices correctly without travelling. He needs to go into the shot in one motion (bend legs and spring up into the jump). He also needs to square up to the basket and land square.
Cues: Square up
Footwork into shot
Shoot in one motion (down then up with body)
