Skills analysis
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristics: Step with opposite foot of throwing arm. Keep elbow up and hand at about ear hight if not a little higher. Follow through with a flick of the wrist, moving your arm across your bodys midline.
What to Change: The boy in this picture seems to have had some experience, where the girl is just a beginner. She doesn't have her elbow up, she doesn't use any of her upper body, and she doesn't really follow through (across her body). One thing that you could praise her for is she does step with the correct foot. Many beginners won't even get that far!
Cue: Keep body balanced; keep elbow up and move your shoulder
Football throw
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristics:The boy holds the ball securely as he begins the throw. He then steps back and brings the ball up beside his head. Steps with front foot, throws ball with opposite hand and follows through.
What to change: Have the boy bring the ball higher as he starts to release and follow through should come straight forward not across the body.
Cue: Looks great keep practicing
Football throw
Stage: stage 4 Pangrazi (2007)
Stage 4 characteristics: step to the target, rotate the upper body.
What to change: The girl in the vidio has more work to do than the boy. She needs to keep the elbow up. Make sure she fallows through. As well as rotate the upper body to throw.
Cue: keep the ball up and lead with the elbow.
